About Philip
Philip Waldman D.O. FSCCO — Osteopath & Cranial Osteopath
Philip Waldman D.O. FSCCO is a Registered Osteopath and Cranial Osteopath with over 34 years of continuous clinical practice. He works at Chelsea Natural Health Clinic, 208 Fulham Road, London SW10, and at his Brighton & Hove practice in Maple Gardens, Hove, BN3. Philip is co-founder and director of Chelsea Natural Health, which has been providing integrative healthcare in Chelsea for over 34 years.
Philip holds the Diploma in Osteopathy (D.O.) and is a Fellow of the Sutherland Cranial College (FSCCO). Fellowship of the Sutherland Cranial College represents the highest level of standing within the cranial osteopathic field in the UK, and reflects Philip’s extensive additional training, study and clinical experience in cranial osteopathy over many decades. He began his cranial training during his undergraduate degree, as part of a scheme to integrate cranial osteopathic techniques into pre-graduate training — an opportunity available to very few practitioners of his generation.
Philip is fully registered with the General Osteopathic Council (GOsC), the statutory regulator for osteopaths in the United Kingdom. Under the Osteopaths Act 1993, it is a criminal offence to use the title “osteopath” without being registered with the GOsC. Registration requires completion of a recognised four- or five-year undergraduate degree course covering anatomy, physiology, pathology, diagnosis and clinical osteopathic techniques.
Specialist areas
Philip maintains a broad range of osteopathic and cranial osteopathic techniques across all his clinical work. His particular areas of specialist interest and experience include:
Migraine treatment
Philip has a long-standing clinical interest in the osteopathic treatment and prevention of migraines. By addressing musculoskeletal tension in the neck, upper back and cranium — and improving nervous system function and circulation in these areas — osteopathy can reduce both the frequency and severity of migraine attacks for many patients. Cranial osteopathy for babies and children
Philip treats newborns, babies, infants and children using cranial osteopathy — a gentle, non-manipulative technique appropriate for the softer tissues of young patients. He is frequently consulted for babies presenting with feeding difficulties, colic, excessive crying, sleep disturbance, neck tension and flat head syndrome (plagiocephaly). He also works with teenagers experiencing postural problems, sports injuries and growing pains.
Ante-natal and post-natal care
Philip has been treating pregnant women and newborn babies for over 30 years. He sees expectant mothers from the first trimester onwards, supporting them through the postural, hormonal and structural changes of pregnancy. He also treats post-natally, helping mothers recover physically after childbirth. He works in collaboration with Hannah Waldman BWY, Pregnancy Yoga and Mother & Baby Yoga teacher in Brighton & Hove. Dry needling acupuncture
Philip uses dry needling acupuncture as an adjunct to his osteopathic work. Dry needling involves the insertion of fine needles into myofascial trigger points to release muscle tension and reduce pain. Philip integrates this technique where appropriate alongside his manual osteopathic treatment.
