Neuralgia

Neuralgia is nerve pain.  It can be a burning pain, stabbing pain, a deep ache (like toothache) and can be of varying intensity.  Nerve pain is caused by irritation or pressure on a nerve, and any nerve in the body.   The nerve may be anywhere in the body, and the damage may be caused by several things, including: arthritis, joint injuries, swelling and infections (such as shingles).

Depending on the cause of the nerve compression, osteopathy may help reduce the pressure on the trapped nerve, relieving the symptoms.  Accurate diagnosis is important, and as an osteopath I would take a full case history, do a full exam including any tests needed to identify the cause and plan the treatment.
